1. Introduction
In the application $PRODUCT_NAME_WORKFLOW, the Fixup Set Line Width for selected Spot Color is available. The purpose of this Fixup is to adjust the outlline of a Spot Color – such as a Technical Color – to the desired value.
2. General
The Fixup Set Line Width for selected Spot Color can be used to increase the line width for the selected Spot Color to the desired value. In addition, all outlines that are smaller than the defined value can be set to the specified line width.
You can find this Fixup in the tab Data Preparation of an Article, Order, or Production Job by:
- Entering the name of the Fixup in the section Filter,
- Activating the option Object in the section Category,
- Activating the option Create in the section Action, and
- Activating the option Spot Color in the section Property.
3. Description
This Fixup increases the Line Width of the selected Spot Color by the defined value. The Fixup can be applied to all Line Width or only to the Line Widths that are smaller that the specified value. As a result, a Dieline, for example, can be increased by the defined value to make it more visible in the Lead In/Lead Out during output.
The Line Width is increased outward!
Please note that the Line Width is increased outward and not from the center!
3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality
To ensure that the Fixup produces the desired result, the following prerequisites must be met:rzielt, müssen folgende Voraussetzungen gegeben sein:
- A Spot Color or Technical Coloris used in the print file.
- A Line Width is colored using a Spot Color.

To set the Line Width for Spot Colors, the following options are available:
- Templates [1] – settings selected in the dialog can be saved as a Template and applied to other Articles/Print Items. They can also be used within Fixup Chains as well as in the Fixup Chains and Apply Fixups und Check Print Item and Apply Fixups.
- Spor Color Option [2] – select from the dropdown menu how the desired Spot Color(s) should should be defined. The following options are available:
- Select Spot Color from the list – select the desired Spot Color from the dropdown menu of the Spot Color [3]. All system-wide defined Spot and Technical Colors are available.
- Identify Spot Colors with RegEx – enter the desired Regular Expressions (RegEx) in the input field Spot Colors (RegEx) [3] to identify the Spot Color.
- Select Spot Colors from List or via RegEx – select the desired Spot Color from the dropdown menu of the Spot Color [3] and then enter the required RegEx expression in the input field.
- Variable Content [7] – select the desired placeholder – database field or user-defined field – from which the value for the Spot Color selection should be retrieved. The following values must be present in the selected field to enable the selection:

- Apply [4] – select from the dropdown menu whether the Fixup should be applied to all Line Widths or only to specific Line Widths. The following options are available:
- Apply to all Line Width – all Line Width of the selected Spot Colors are increased by the defined value.
- Line Width is less than – only Line Width with a Line Width smaller than the value specified in the option Min. Line Width are increased by the defined value. Note that the option Min. Line Width is only available when this option is selected.
- Variable Content [8] – select the desired placeholder – database field or user-defined field – from which the value for the application method should be retrieved. The following values must be present in the selected field to enable the selection:

- Min. Line Width [5] – enter the min. Line Width from which a Line Width should be increased by the defined value. Note that this option is only available if Line Width is less than is selected as the application method. For Variable Content [9], select the desired placeholder – database field or user-defined field –, from which the value for the Min. Line Width should be retrieved.
- Linienstärke setzen auf [6] – geben Sie hier den gewünschten Wert ein, auf den die gewählte Kontur verstärkt werden soll. Beachten Sie, dass die gewählte Kontur dem hier eingegeben Wert entspricht. Beispiel: Wird hier der Wert 1 pt eingegeben, wird die Kontur auf 1 pt verstärkt. Hat die ursprüngliche Kontur vor der Bearbeitung also 0,6 pt, so hat die Kontur nach Anwendung der Korrektur 1 pt. Wählen Sie für den Variablen Inhalt [10] den gewünschten Platzhalter – Datenbankfeld bzw. Benutzerdefiniertes Feld – aus, woraus der Wert für die Konturstärke entnommen werden soll.

3.2. Before / After
Zum Experimentieren mit dieser Funktion können Sie auf die Beispieldatei »Sample_Set Stroke Width.pdf« zurückgreifen. In der Datei befindet sich die Schneidelinie »Dieline«, welche eine Konturstärke von 0,2 pt aufweist. Nun soll genau diese Kontur auf 2 pt erweitert werden.
Nach Anwendung der Korrektur entsteht die Datei »Sample_Set Stroke Width_End.pdf«, in der die Konturstärke der Technischen Farbe »Dieline« auf 2 pt gesetzt wurde. Dafür wurden die Werte aus Abbildung 1 verwendet.
