Updated on

In this article, you will learn

  • which prerequisites must be met for this Fixup, and
  • how to apply this Fixup.

1. Introduction

The $PRODUCT_NAME_WORKFLOW application provides the Add a Dieline to the ImageBox Fixup. The purpose of this Fixup is to create a Dieline based on the size of the ImageBox or the ImageBox + Bleed.

2. General

The Add Dieline to the ImageBox Fixup can be used to add a Dieline with the same dimensions as the ImageBox. Optionally, a second Dieline can be created at the specified offset. The corners of the Dieline can also be rounded or beveled, if required.

You can find the Fixup in the Data Preparation tab of an Article, Order or Production Job by:

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the Filter area,
  • enabling the Object option in the Category area,
  • enabling the Add or Create option in the Action area,
  • enabling the Dieline or Spot Color option in the Property area.

3. Description

This Fixup creates an overprinting Dieline with the same dimensions as the ImageBox or the ImageBox + Bleed. Optionally, a second Dieline can be created at the specified offset.

Set the ImageBox and the Bleed Correctly

Make sure that the ImageBox is positioned on the correct PageBox. This helps prevent unintended results when applying the Fixup. For the ImageBox + Bleed option, the expected bleed is used. Therefore, make sure that the expected bleed matches the actual bleed of the Print Item.

3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality

For the Fixup to perform as intended, no special conditions need to be met.

The Add Dieline to the ImageBox Fixup consists of three individual Fixups that have been combined into a single dialog. You can enable selected Fixups and thereby execute them.

With the exception of the Create Dieline from and Layer Name options, the same parameters are available for this Fixup as for the Add Dieline Fixup. A detailed description of all options can be found in section 3.1.1.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, you can use the sample file "Sample_Add a Dieline to ImageBox.pdf". The file has a size of 290 x 290 mm with a Bleed of 10 mm. In this example, the ImageBox is positioned on the TrimBox, which has a size of 290 x 290 mm. A Dieline is to be created for this ImageBox.

After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Add a Dieline to ImageBox_End.pdf" is created. In this file, a Dieline has been created for the ImageBox. The values shown in Figure 2 were used for this purpose. No additional Dieline was added.
