1. Introduction
The Fixup Assign Source Profile for RGB objects is available in the Workflow. The purpose of this Fixup is to assign an ICC profile to RBG objects that do not have a source profile (DeviceRGB).
2. General
The Fixup Assign Source Profile for RGB objects can be used to assign objects a source profile that differs from the Working Color Space of the Workflow. This can be used to counteract an overdrawing of the colors on the one hand and to force an overdrawing of the colors for the color image on the other. It is up to the user to decide which profile to use for each Print Item depending on the situation.
If no source profile is assigned to a DeviceRGB object, please note that the selected ICC profile, which was set as the Working Color Space for RGB in the system settings of the Workflow, is used for the color conversion to the target color space.
You can find this Fixup on the tab Data Preparation of an Article, Order or Production Job by:
- entering the name of the Fixup in the area Filter,
- activating the option Color in the area Category,
- activating the option Add in the area Action,
- activating the option RGB in the area Property.
3. Description
The Fixup is used to assign an ICC profile to RGB objects that do not have a source profile (DeviceRGB). Among other things, this allows the RGB object to be assigned a source profile that differs from the Working Color Space.
3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality
For the Fixup to perform as intended, the following requirements must be met:
- The file contains RGB objects without an ICC source profile.
- RGB objects that already have a source profile are not converted.
- The file can contain any object type - vectors, text or images.

The following options can be used to assign an ICC profile to RGB objects:
- Apply to [1] – select the RGB objects for which an ICC profile is to be assigned in the selection menu. The following options are available:
- All Objects – an ICC profile is assigned to all RGB objects in the file.
- Images only – an ICC profile is assigned to all RGB images in the file.
- Vector only – an ICC profile is assigned to all RGB vectors in the file.
- Text and Vector – an ICC profile is assigned to all RGB texts and vectors in the file.
- Text only – an ICC profile is assigned to all RGB texts in the file.
- Variable Content [3] – for Variable Content [3], select the desired placeholder – Database Field or User-defined Field – from which the value for the selection of objects should be retrieved. The following values must be found in the selected field for the objects to be selected:

- Assign ICC Profile [2] – select the ICC profile to be assigned to the selected objects from the selection menu. For Variable Content [4], select the desired placeholder – Database Field or User-defined Field – from which the value for the ICC profile should be retrieved.

3.2. Before/After
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Source Profil for RGB.pdf". The entire file was created in DeviceRGB. The sun within the file is a RBG image. Print Items also contain a RGB text line. The rest of the Print Items consists of RGB vectors.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Source Profil for RGB_End.pdf" is created. The Adobe RGB source profile was assigned to all objects here. The colors have visibly shifted.
