1.2 Setting and Applying Favorites for Fixups

Updated on

In this article, you will learn

  • how to mark Fixups as Favorites,
  • where to access your Favorites, and
  • how to restrict the Fixup search to Favorites only.

1. Introduction

Fixups that are used regularly should be quickly and easily accessible to users. Marking frequently needed Fixups as Favorites can save significant time in daily workflows by eliminating the need to search extensively for suitable Fixups.

In the tab Print Data of an Article, Production Job or Order, all detail information related to the Print Item is thematically organized into different sections. At the footer of each section, Fixups that are thematically assigned are displayed. This assignment is predefined and cannot be customized individually. However, you can access all Fixups marked as Favorites via the dropdown menu Favorites in the footer of the first section.

In the tab Data Preparation, users have access to all standard Fixups defined in the Workflow by default as well as any user-uploaded Fixups. In addition to selecting, parameterizing, and applying Fixups, this tab also offers the option to mark Fixups as Favorites.

Favorites are stored per user

Fixups marked as Favorites are user-specific and apply only to the respective user. This allows you to individually mark the Fixups most important to you – independently of the Favorites defined by other team members.

2. Mark Fixups as Favorites

Fixups can be marked as Favorites throughout the Workflow at nearly all points where Fixups are selected or applied. Marking Fixups as Favorites allows for quick access to frequently used entries. You can mark Fixups as Favorites in the following areas:

  • In the tab Data Preparation of the detail view of an Article or Print Item
  • In the dialog Apply Fixup when applying a Fixup to selected Articles or Print Items in the list view of an Article/Print Item
  • In the dialog Edit Fixup Chain, in the selection area Fixups

To mark a Fixup as a Favorite from the tab Data Preparation, proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to the menu item Articles, Orders or Production Job.
  2. Click the title of the desired Article or Print Item in the list of Articles/Print Items. This opens the tab Print Data containing all detailed information.
  3. Switch to the tab Data Preparation [1].
  4. Locate the Fixup you want to mark as a Favorite. In this example, the Fixup is Day and Night Output [4].
  5. Click the Favorites icon [3] to mark the Fixup as a Favorite. Favorites that are already marked are indicated by a colored Favorites icon [2].

3. Accessing Favorites when Executing and Searching for Fixups

The day-to-day operations, users can quickly access their favorite Fixups at various points within the Workflow. The following options are available:

  • Access Favorites in the tab Print Data.
  • Access and search Favorites in the tab Data Preparation.
  • Access and search Favorites in the dialog Apply Fixup.
  • Search Favorites only in the dialog Edit Fixup Chain.

3.1. Tab "Print Data"

In the tab Print Data, users can quickly access Fixups marked as Favorites. This functionality is located in the footer of the section Document Information and User-defined Fields. In the dropdown menu of Favorites [5], all previously marked Favorite Fixups are displayed in alphabetical order and are readily available for immediate selection.

Making Fixups available in the Print Item Detail View

By default, up to 20 Fixups are available in the Detail View of a Print Item. However, in practice, it is often necessary to access additional Fixups.

To avoid disrupting the Workflow by switching to other tabs, it is recommended to mark frequently used Fixups as Favorites. This makes these Fixups directly accessible in the Detail View of the Print Item via the Favorites menu.

3.2. Tab "Data Preparation"

In the tab Data Preparation, you can not only apply Fixups directly, but also mark them as Favorites to access them more quickly later. To improve clarity, the long list of available Fixups can be filtered in various ways.

In addition to the familiar filter options, you can also use the function Show Favorites only [6]. When this filter is activated, only those Fixups – including Custom Fixups – that you have previously marked as Favorites will be displayed.

3.3. Dialog "Apply Fixup"

When you select one or more Print Items from the menu Articles or Order, you can apply a Fixup to these Articles/Print Items by selecting the option Fixups > Apply Fixup to selection from the action bar.

In the dialog Apply Fixup which then opens, you have access to the familiar filter functions as well as the option Show Favorites only [7], as previously described.

3.4. Fixup Chains

When creating a new Fixup Chain or editing an existing one under Administration > Fixup Chains, you can filter the list of available Fixups. By selecting the option Show Favorites only [8], only those Fixups – including your own custom Fixups – that you have previously marked as Favorites will be displayed.
