1. Introduction
The Fixup Create and Store Preview is available in the Workflow. The purpose of this Fixup is to create and save a preview of the Print items in the selected output format.
2. General
The Fixup Create and Store Preview can be used to create a preview image of the Print item in the selected color space, resolution and file type and then save it in the tab "Additional Data".
You can find this Fixup on the tab Data Preparation of an Article, Order or Production Job by:
- entering the name of the Fixup in the area Filter,
- activating the option Color in the area Category,
- activating the option Create in the area Action,
- activating the Preview in the area Property.
3. Description
Use this Fixup to create a preview of the Print item. The user can select the desired color space, the resolution, the file type and the PageBox that should be rendered. The preview file is stored in the tab "Additional Data" and can therefore also be retrieved there via the REST API.
3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality
For the Fixup to perform as intended, no particular requirements must be met.

The user can use the following options to create and save a preview:
- Templates [1] – settings selected in the dialog can be saved as a template and applied to other Articles/Print Items, as well as used within Fixup Chains and in the Operations Apply Fixups and Check Print Item and Apply Fixups.
- Render only Layer(s) [2] – activate this option if only selected layers should be rendered. The layers that should be rendered can be selected in the selection menu of the Layer Name [3].
- Render only Spot Color(s) [4] – activate this option if only selected Spot Colors should be rendered. The desired Spot Colors can be selected in the selection menu of Spot Color [5].
- Resolution [6] – enter the desired target resolution for the preview here. The resolution is specified in dpi.
- Color Space [7] – select the desired Color Space in which the preview image should be generated from the selection menu. The following options are available:

- File Type [8] – select the file type that should be generated for the preview in the selection menu. The following options are available:
JPEGPNGTIFFPDF
- Render PageBox [9] – select in the selection menu which content of which PageBox should be rendered.
- TrimBox – the content of the TrimBox is rendered.
- BleedBox – the content of the BleedBox is rendered.
- CropBox – the content of the CropBox is rendered.
- MediaBox – the content of the MediaBox is rendered.
3.2. Before/After
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Create and Store Preview.pdf". The file was created in CMYK and should now be generated as a preview and stored in the tab „Additional Data".
After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Create and Store Preview_End.pdf" is created. A preview was created for the Print item and saved in the tab „Additional Data". The values from Figure 1 were used.
