1. Introduction
The Fixup Remove Selected Layers is available. The purpose of this Fixup is to remove selected layers along with the objects assigned to them, thereby changing the appearance of the Print Item.
2. General
The Fixup Remove Selected Layers can be used, for example, to delete all objects on a selected layer. This can be help ensure that only the printed content is visible. In some cases, removing layers can also drastically reduce the file size.
You can find the Fixup in the footer of the sections Document Information and User-defined Field in the Fixup group Manage Layers of an Article, Order or Production Job and in the tab Data Preparation.
3. Fixup Description
This Fixup can be used to delete layers in the document along with all objects assigned to them. Deleting layers can also reduce the file size, which is particularly useful for very large files. Please note that deleted layers cannot be restored.
3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality
For this Fixup to perform as intended, the following requirements must be met:
- The Print Item has several layers.
- Individual layers of the Print Item can be made visible or hidden.

Click the selection menu [1] to remove the desired layer. This Fixup allows you to delete multiple layers at the same time. To do this, select additional layers from the selection menu.
3.2. Before/After
To experiment with this Fixup, refer to the sample file "Layer_Sample.pdf". The sample file contains six layers, two of which are hidden and four are visible.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Layers_Sample_End3.pdf" is created. In this file, the layers Technical Drawings, Foreground, and Background have been deleted.
