3.110 Rename Spot Colors

1. Introduction

The Fixup Rename Spot Colors is available in the Workflow. The purpose of this Fixup is to rename selected Spot Colors to the desired spelling.

2. General

The Fixup Rename Spot Colors can be used to rename the selected Spot Color as required. Regular Expressions (RegEx) can also be used for this purpose. This Fixup makes it possible to rename all Spot Color names used for Dielines, White, and Primers, for example in everyday production, allowing them to be renamed in a single step according to the house standard.

You can find this Fixup on the tab Data Preparation of an Article, Order or Production Job by:

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the area Filter,
  • activating the option Color in the area Category,
  • activating the option Change or Rename in the area Action,
  • activating the option Spot Color in the area Property.

3. Description

Spot Colors can be easily renamed using this Fixup. In this way, a Dieline can be quickly converted into a Die. Regular Expressions (RegEx) can also be used to rename similar or differently spelled Spot Color names.

3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality

For the Fixups to perform as intended, the following requirement must be met:

  • The file contains at least one Spot Color.

Select from the following options to rename Spot Colors:

  • Source Spot Color Name [1] – enter the name of the Spot Color to be renamed. You can enter either the exact Spot Color name or a regular expression (RegEx) in the input field.
  • Target Spot Color Name [3] – enter the new name of the Spot Color. All system-wide defined Technical Colors are also available for selection.
  • Add [2] – click the option Add to insert an additional field for searching and replacing Spot Color names.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Rename Spotcolor.pdf". The file contains a dieline called "Cut". This Dieline should now be renamed to "Dieline".

After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Rename Spotcolor_End.pdf" is created. The selected Spot Color has been successfully renamed. The values from Figure 1 were used.
