In this article, you will learn
- which requirements must be met for this Fixup and
- how to apply this Fixup.
1. Introduction
The Fixup Set PageBoxes to TrimBox is available in the Workflow. This Fixup aims to set or delete the BleedBox, the CropBox and the MediaBox starting from the TrimBox.
2. General
Use the Fixup Set PageBoxes to TrimBox to set the PageBox to match the TrimBox. The BleedBox and CropBox can remain unchanged, be deleted or offset relative or absolute from the TrimBox frame. The same applies to the MediaBox, although this box cannot be deleted as the MediaBox must be present in every PDF file.
The Fixup can be found in the tab Data Preparation of an Article, Order or Production Job by
- Entering the name of the Fixup in the area Filter,
- Activating the PageBox option in the area Category,
- Activating the Change option in the area Action and by
- Activating the option MediaBox, BleedBox, CropBox or TrimBox in the area Property.
3. Description
With this Fixup, set the BleedBox, CropBox and MediaBox to match the TrimBox. The users can decide for themselves whether the respective Boxes should remain unchanged, be deleted or set relative or absolute to the TrimBox.
3.1. Requirements and Functionality
In order for the Fixup to do what it promises, the following situation must exist:
- There is already a TrimBox in the PDF file.
- The TrimBox is in the correct position in the PDF.
3.1.1. Actions
Actions are available for each PageBox that can be changed, with which the respective PageBox either remains unchanged, is removed or can be set relative or absolute to the TrimBox.
The user can choose between the following Actions [2]:
- Leave Unchanged – the respective PageBox remains unchanged. No further options can be selected.
- Remove PageBox – the respective PageBox is deleted and removed from the file. No further options can be selected.
- Set Relative – the respective PageBox can be set relative to the TrimBox. Specify the offset to the TrimBox for Top, Bottom, Left and Right [3] separately.
- Set Absolute – the respective PageBox can be set absolute by entering the desired size. Set the selected PageBox by specifying the Height [8] and Width [5]. The position of the PageBox is set from the center of the TrimBox.

3.2. Before/After
To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "Sample_Set PageBoxes to TrimBox.pdf". The file has a size of 100 x 100 mm. All PageBoxes are the same size. The CropBox and MediaBox should be extended by 2 mm per page for this example.
After applying the Fixup, the file "Sample_Set PageBoxes to TrimBox_End.pdf" is created. The values from Figure 1 were used here.
