3.100 Remove Output Intent

1. Introduction

The Fixup Delete Output Intent is available in the Workflow. The purpose of this Fixup is to remove all Output Intents that are present in the PDF file, for example, to prepare the file for other purposes.

2. General

Use the Fixup Remove Output Intent to remove an existing output intent, for example to prepare a PDF/X or PDF/A file for another purpose. The output intent contains an embedded ICC profile that defines the Color Space to be simulated for the output.

You can find this Fixup on the tab Data Preparation of an Article, Order or Production Job by:

  • entering the name of the Fixup in the area Filter,
  • activating the option Page in the area Category,
  • activating the option Delete in the area Action,
  • activating the option Output Intent in the area Property.

3. Description

This Fixup deletes all output intents saved in the PDF file. Removing the output intent is especially important if the file is to be used for other purposes. Deleting the output intent can also reduce the file size.

3.1. Prerequisites and Functionality

For the Fixup to perform as intended, the following requirement must be met:

  • The PDF has an output intent.

No further options can be selected.

3.2. Before/After

To experiment with this function, refer to the sample file "PDF_with Output_Intent.pdf". This file was created as PDF/X 4, with PSO Coated V3 stored as the output intent.

After applying the Fixup, the file "PDF without Output_Intent.pdf" is created. Removing the output intent does not normally result in a color shift.
