Adding Additional Print Environment

Updated on

In this article, you will learn

  • how to create an additional print environment in the Device Connector, and
  • how to add it as a print configuration in the Workflow application.

1. Introduction

For an existing printer, multiple print configurations can be created. This allows different print settings – for example, for various materials or print modes – to be managed within a single printer.

2. Adding Print Environment

Whenever changes are made to a print environment in the Device Connector, or a new print environment is created for a printer, corresponding changes must also be made to the print configuration, or a new print configuration must be created in the Workflow application.

2.1. Add New Queue

To create a new print environment in the Device Connector, proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Device Connector ControlCenter.
  2. Open the Configurator in the tab Home.

  1. In the Configurator, open the Print Environment Manager using the button Print Environment Manager [1] in the toolbar.
  2. Click Add [3] to create a new print environment for the selected printer.

Edit Print Environment

The Print Environment Manager also allows you to edit an existing print environment. To do this, select the desired printer and click Settings [2] to make any necessary changes.

Note that changes to an existing print environment may affect the settings in the Workflow application.

  2. Assign a Name and configure the required parameters as you would when creating a new print environment. For more information, refer to the article Setting Up Print Environment in Device Connector.

2.2. Adding a Print Configuration in the Workflow Application

After a new print configuration has been created in the Device Connector, it must be added as an additional print configuration to an existing printer in the Workflow application. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to the menu item Administration > Printer.
  2. Open the detail view for the printer by clicking the name of the printer for which you want to create a new print configuration.
  3. In the settings area Print Configuration, click Add [4].
