Before defining the file management in the Workflow application, the corresponding target folder has to be created on the local system. To do this, create a folder with the name Device_Connector. This folder serves as the target directory to which print data is transferred from the renderer. If multiple drives are available, it is recommended to create the folder on Drive D.

The first step in setting up a printer that is controlled via the Device Connector is to set up the respective share. To do this, go to the menu item Administration > File Management. Then proceed as follows:

1. Add a new Host by clicking Add. This opens the dialog Add Host. Enter the following information:
   • Name [1] – enter the desired name for the new host.
   • Type [2] – select Device Connector from the drop-down menu.
   • Host [3] – enter the IP address of the workstation to which print data will be transmitted. In this case, enter the IP address of the workstation where the Device_Connector folder was previously created.
   • Domain [4] – this field can normally be left blank. However, if the host is located within a domain, specify the user domain of the workstation to be accessed here. Contact your IT administrator for assistance.
   • User [5] – enter the SMB username here.
   • Password [6] – enter the password for the user here.
2. Click Save to store the host configuration. The configured host is now available for selection in the Hosts list within the settings area.

3. Once the host has been set up, Shares can be selected in the target directory. Shares are usually directories in the file system of the target system. Select the host you created earlier in the settings area Hosts.
4. In the settings area Approvals, click Add. This opens the dialog Add Share. Select the folder Device_Connector.

5. Finally, click Apply to save your selection. Select the Share you created earlier. Details about the share can be viewed on the right in the area Path Details. The share has now been successfully configured, and the Workflow application can access this directory.

After the share has been created, the connector interface must be added. To add the interface, proceed as follows:

1. Navigate to Administration > Interfaces and select Printer from the list.
2. Add a new instance by clicking Add. In the selection menu, choose from the selection menu the menu item Add Device Connector Interface.
3. This opens the dialog Add Printer Instance. Enter the following information:
   • Name [7] – enter the name for the new printer instance.
   • IP [8] – enter the IP address of the workstation where the Device Connector is installed.
   • Port [12] – enter port 50017. This port is valid for all Device Connector instances. By clicking the icon [13] , the connection to the Device Connector can be tested immediately.
   • Windows path of the Destination Share [9] – enter the exact path to the target share (the folder created earlier). This path must point directly to the folder selected when the share was created.
   • Host [10] – select the host you previously created for the Device Connector from the dropdown menu.
   • Destination [11] – select the target directory you specified earlier when creating the share.
4. Finally, click Save to create the new printer instance.

Finally, the printer must be created in the Workflow application. To do this, proceed as follows:

1. Navigate to the menu Administration > Printer.
2. Click Add and select from the menu Printer via Device Connector.
3. This opens the dialog Add Printer. Enter the following information:
   • Instance [14] – wählen Sie im Auswahlmenü die Druckerinstanz aus, die Sie zuvor angelegt haben.
   • Printer Type [15] – wählen Sie im Auswahlmenü jenen Drucker aus, den Sie zuvor im Device Connector angelegt haben. Wenn alle Schritte funktioniert haben, werden Ihnen hier alle angelegten Drucker angezeigt.
   • Name [16] – geben Sie hier jenen Namen für den Drucker an, der in der Applikation Workflow verwendet werden soll.
   • IP [17] – optional kann hier die IP-Adresse des Druckers angegeben werden.
   • Serial Number [18] – geben Sie hier optional die Seriennummer des ausgewählten Druckers ein.
   • Software Version [19] – sollte Ihnen die Softwareversion des Druckers vorliegen, kann diese hier angegeben werden.
   • Remarks [20] – geben Sie hier optional eine weiterführende Beschreibung ein.
   • Bevorzugte Höhe [21] – geben Sie hier die bevorzugte Höhe ein, die im Montage Editor standardmäßig für die maximale Höhe der Montage verwendet werden soll.
   • Job-Ticket Informationen [22] – diese Informationen werden direkt vom Device Connector an die Anwendung übergeben, weshalb diese Informationen auch nicht geändert werden können.
   • BIG TIFF Rendern [23] – aktivieren Sie diese Option, wenn der anzulegende Drucker mit dem Format BIG TIFF umgehen kann.

Abschließend muss nun noch der Drucker in der Applikation Workflow angelegt werden. Gehen Sie dazu folgendermaßen vor:

1. Wechseln Sie in den Menüpunkt Administration > Drucker.
2. Klicken Sie auf Hinzufügen und wählen Sie im Auswahlmenü Drucker über Device Connector aus.
3. Es öffnet sich dadurch der Dialog Drucker hinzufügen. Geben Sie darin nun folgende Informationen ein:
   • Instance [14] – wählen Sie im Auswahlmenü die Druckerinstanz aus, die Sie zuvor angelegt haben.
   • Printer Type[15] – wählen Sie im Auswahlmenü jenen Drucker aus, den Sie zuvor im Device Connector angelegt haben. Wenn alle Schritte funktioniert haben, werden Ihnen hier alle angelegten Drucker angezeigt.
   • Name [16] – geben Sie hier jenen Namen für den Drucker an, der in der Applikation Workflow verwendet werden soll.

4. Klicken Sie auf Weiter um zum nächsten Schritt zu gelangen.
5. Wählen Sie im Auswahlmenü Druckumgebung [24] jene Druckumgebung aus, die Sie zuvor angelegt haben.

6. Durch Klick auf Weiter gelangen Sie zum nächsten Schritt.
7. Im Reiter Druckköpfe werden alle zur Verfügung stehenden Prozessfarben und Farben, die als Separation ausgegeben werden, angelegt. Aktivieren Sie die Checkbox Tinten automatisch anlegen [25], um alle Tinten automatisch anzulegen.
8. Klicken Sie auf Weiter um zum nächsten Schritt zu gelangen.

9. Im Schritt Farbkonfiguration muss nun der Typ [26] ausgewählt werden.
10. Geben im Feld Farbkonfigurationsname [27] den gewünschten Namen für den Typ ein. Standardmäßig wird die Bezeichnung des Typs übernommen, Sie können jedoch auch Ihre bevorzugte Benennung verwenden und eingeben.
11. Klicken Sie anschließend auf Weiter.

12. Im Schritt Druckkonfiguration müssen noch Eingaben zur Druckauflösung [28] gemacht werden. Optional können Sie noch Informationen zum Passtyp eingeben sowie Änderungen am Standard Dither vornehmen.
14. Klicken Sie anschließend auf Speichern, um den Drucker anzulegen.
