Updated on

In this article, you will learn

  • which prerequisites must be considered for the installation, and
  • what additional configurations are required for and within the application $PRODUCT_NAME_WORKFLOW.

1. Introduction

The application is a comprehensive production system – covering all Processing Steps from data input and data check to data preparation, as well as the generation of print-ready files and the rendering of print data. However, certain prerequisites must be met for its use.

2. Before Installation

The installation of the application $PRODUCT_NAME_WORKFLOW will be performed by a qualified technician or your IT department. In order to begin these activities, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • It must be ensured that a network connection is available from the workstations to the application and, if required, from the application to the printer. The network must be configured accordingly.
  • Static IP addresses must be defined or reservated in advance for the application server and, optionally, for a printer or an IP-enabled measurement device.
  • Specific ports within the network must be enabled to allow access to required resources.
  • During installation and in case of support, both the application server and the client must be accessible via Teamviewer.
  • License activation and verification are performed online; therefore, the application server must have access to the internet.

3. Printer Setup

The printer will be set up within the application $PRODUCT_NAME_WORKFLOW by a qualified technician or your IT department.

PDF Printer Setup

Even if you only intend to output a print-ready PDF of an Imposition to a designated folder or hotfolder, a PDF printer must be configured for processing the print data. However, print-ready Print Items can also be generated and saved directly from the system to a target folder.

4. Measurement Device Setup

A connection must be established between the application $PRODUCT_NAME_WORKFLOW and the Measurement Device to be used. Depending on the manufacturer and the device, different connection options are available:

4.1. USB

Measurement Devices connected via USB must be made available on the application server. If the device cannot be connected directly to the computer, it can be linked to the server via a USB device server using a virtual USB interface.

For USB-connected Measurement Devices, the corresponding drivers must be installed on the application server in advance.

USB in virtual environments

In virtual environments, the use of a USB device server is essential to conntect the Measurement Device to the application server.

4.2. LAN

The Measurement Device Barbieri Spectro LFP qp can also be controlled via its integrated LAN interface.
To do this, the corresponding configuration of the Ethernet interface must be performed using the panel on the measurement head.

4.3. Serial

Some Measurement Devices, such as the CM-2300d from Konica Minolta, are controlled via a serial port.
For these serial Measurement Devices, all required configuration files are already available within the application.
