In the printing industry, TAC - Total Area Coverage - is the sum of all superimposed color values. Depending on the used substrate, the used inks (UV-, toner-, or water-based), and the printing process, the total ink coverage must not exceed a certain percentage value. When exceeding the TAC, it is no longer possible to ensure dryness, or it might happen that the layer thickness becomes too thick, which can cause the ink to flake off.
